My IE browser cannot load. The powerline connection is " excellent" %26amp; the local area network status?windows server 2003





The request timed out message means the default gateway (router) is not at the address you are pinging. How are you connected, if through a router go into it's setup and make sure DHCP is turned on, Then go to your network connections and right click the connection you are using and click properties. Then set everything in the tcp/ip to automatic. If you are connecting by modem, your ISP may be the default gateway, many people on the Internet do not allow pinging, it puts their machines at risk from DOS (denial of service) attacks.

see if dns is working and if your really connected (do ipconfig froma dos window and see if you have an IP address, also do netstat -rn and see if you have a routing table along with a default gateway, if you do have a default gateway, see if you can ping it by doing ping %26lt;default gateway IP from a dos window, if you get a response, check if you have dns by doing nslookup from a dos window)
