Gas and diesel are about the same price only the diesel engine cost about $1,500 more. However, if properly maintained diesel should outlast the gas rig by 2X. If you haul or plan to pull anything the diesel will have much more power, ie. torque.

diesel is always best for highway miles. best for fuel economy. best for durability. You just need to ignore the annoying sound and smell of a diesel engine.
Depends on what you are doing

Diesel engines last longer and get better mileage

But they are slow taking off and slow on hills

They also require a lot of maintainance - you cant just ignore them

They also pull weight better

Gas engines take off faster and are better around town

they are also easier to work on by yourself

You need to figure out what you want out of your truck and pick accordingly

Good Luck
Diesel. It has more heat in it than gasoline and so produces more power. It presently costs more than gas where I live, but going diesel is a long-term investment. The chassis will wear out before the engine will.
Diesel would have less maintenance and wear. (ie.pulgs ,wires)

Diesel works well with constant speed.
If pulling a load, lots of stop and go, living in hot weather, out what the heck just get the diesel it will last longer just make sure it is a cummins.
My Ram 2500 gets about 24 mpg on the hwy. Go for a cummins deisel. You can get 700,000 miles out of a properly maintained engine. The Hemi's SUCK GAS!!!
