I downloaded Firefox, and it works fine. However, when I try to listen to music or watch a video on Windows Media Player or Real Player the videos open but the music sounds funny. Alicia Keys sounds like a man. I uninstalled Firefox but before I did, I downlaoded the plugins but this crap is really not working. Have you tried setting your homepage to Yahoo!? If not try that. Open IE, click on tools, then on Internet Options. When that page opens, under the homepage section type in http://www.yahoo.com, with IE 7.0, you can actually set up a number of tabs to open when you start IE. That way, when you open IE 7.0, yahoo will be right there and then all you have to do is click on the mail button on the Yahoo home page. With Yahoo set as your homepage, open up your yahoo mail, then check your options again and see if yahoo is listed, if not, try typing in yahoo. The other thing that might work, no gaurentee, try setting up outlook to for yahoo mail. Close outlook and then check and see if it has been added to the list in internet options.

Hi I have been having problems with pop up windows. Example: I go to tmobile site, log into account. Try to log into another page within tmobile, (Caller Tunes) and I click on the link in the tmobile site, another pop up window loads, but very small sized - then a thumbs down icon flashes and the pop up window closes. I have tried loading / clicking with pop ups turned off and on and it does not work. Not just with tombile, but a lot of sites won't let me load another pop up page from within their page. What's weird is that when I go to Start-Run- iexplorer.exe , my error message is "Windows can't find iexplorer.exe..". I stopped using internet explorer a while ago and after that I was being stupid and I deleted it not nowing I can't do that. I can't run a search through my computer because everything on the screen dissapears for a couple of seconds and comes back like nothing happened. I also constantly get "Internet explorer has encountered a problem." Can anyone tell me a way to fix this?

From the add/remove programs menu, click add/remove windows components on the sidebar. Reinstall ie from there. It will most likely ask you for the windows boot disk that came with your computer. Or do a system restore going back before you deleted IE.

If your computer came with another web browser just use that and don't worry about I.E. or go to microsoft's website and try and do a download from a different browser if you have one.

IE is built into the operating system so deleing/uninstalling it can cause problems for other programs. It is highly unlikely you can repair it from the 'add/remove programs' option in control panel. Try this:
To repair by scanning for missing or corrupted files
1. From the Start menu, select Run... .
2. In the "Open:" field, enter sfc /scannow .
Note: There is a space between sfc and /scannow .
3. Click OK.
4. You will be prompted to provide the Windows CD. Put your CD in the proper drive and follow the prompts.

Well, I think the best solution would be to get all of your data off the computer by transferring it to CD's or a flash drive, and do a complete re-install of Windows. The reason I say this is that IE is a root component of Windows (to the dismay of many Mozilla and Firefox fans), and by "deleting" it, you probably created several issues that are not solely related to IE. If you could somehow get on the Internet on your machine, I would say to go out to Windows Update, and that might resolve the issue. If you can't however, you may be stuck reinstalling Windows.
What kind of problem are you having when closing windows? Are you using the tab feature available in IE7 or just opening new IE windows? Hard to help with so few details.

You can go back to Internet Explorer (IE6) just go to add and remove in your control panel and click on remove IE7 and the wizard will walk you through reinstalling IE6 I didn't like IE7 neither. I also use Mozilla Firefox as another web search engine. Hope this works for you!

I am sure you already did what Johnny said. There are some searchbar and shopping programs that are really viruses. They kidnap the homepage and even if you change it, they just change it back again. This seems like a variant of that. What I eventually had to do was backup my setup files, reinstall Windows formating the drive which wipes out everything on it, then reinstalling everything from scratch. Anti virus scans by Norton, McAffe and Avast didn't clear it for me. I know you think it will cost you loads of time but I bet you end up spending even more time trying not to do it, but then still end up doing it anyway.
There is just one ray of hope but I haven't tried it because I have not had this problem back since I found the program, but you could try:-

I don't really think you can call the trojan 'gone' as long as the program that creates it is still on your computer. I've been playing a game on http://www.maidmarian.com in which the games are run on Shockwave. after a very few minutes of game play, the browser closes and then pops out if i report this or not. IT says: it closed down because it kinds of breaches my IP, and i know it is safe.
How do i keep this from going on? i have tried allowing all cookies, adding it to exceptions on firewall.

The request timed out message means the default gateway (router) is not at the address you are pinging. How are you connected, if through a router go into it's setup and make sure DHCP is turned on, Then go to your network connections and right click the connection you are using and click properties. Then set everything in the tcp/ip to automatic. If you are connecting by modem, your ISP may be the default gateway, many people on the Internet do not allow pinging, it puts their machines at risk from DOS (denial of service) attacks.

I'm not sure I follow your problem, but if you are speaking of clicking on a link and having the new page replace the one you clicked from, that is not a feature in most cases that you can adjust.
The html coding of the link on the "referring" page controls whether it opens up a new browser window or opens it up in the current one.
If it is opening it up in the current one, most of the time all you have to do is click on the [%26lt;BACK] button to return to the referring page.

I think thats one of the default folders(i.e windows folder). So dont delete it. You can empty the contents of the link folder though.

If you right click on a blank space in favorites you should get a menu and near the bottom it says "sort by name." That puts mine in alphabetical order.

The isp is prbably forcing everything through a proxy. It just intercepts everything on port 80 (nearly all web traffic). Irconically, the solution to this is... to use a proxy, lol. One that does *not* operate on port 80. Probably not 8080, either, it might intercept that port too. Can find a list of some here: http://tools.rosinstrument.com/proxy/ Find one opertating on a nicely random port, and hopefully it wont cause the same problem as you ips's is. If you just absolutely have to avoid any proxy whatsoever, the only other thing to do is get a new isp.

Your system may only need simple maintenance. Try these basic items for Internet Explorer, especially 1. %26amp; 2.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version from http://www.java.com/. You could also try http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer for the latest Flash player. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. Try returning to the Classic version for now. I recently went though a major headache of reinstalling windows updates from SP1, yeah I know 6 or seven restarts. Got all that done installed a few programs including IE7, but now when I visit yahoo mail I cant delete or move anything. The buttons don't work. When I click a button it does the push down animation but does nothing.

I personally wouldn't use IE7, too many vulnerabilities! Just download firefox and change your yahoo in properties to open with firefox. You will need IE once in awhile if you download certain apps so I use IE6. By the way, uninstall IE%26amp; and reinstall which ever one you want to use, that should solve your problem.Don't turn your updates off, you need those for security purposes, if you know what your doing you could install them manually (pick and choose which ones you want), otherwise, I would just let microsoft do it.

Just add the website to Favorite list: (folow the steps)
Click the Menu %26lt;Favorites%26gt;
and select %26lt;add to favorites%26gt;
type any name (or leave it to default)
after adding, the webpage will appear in the Favorite menu at the very End of the menu
Now, just Right-click that
Select "Copy"
then
Right-click anywhere in the Desktop (empty area)
and paste it...
That's It....Done!
On the left hand side of the existing tool bar should be a button... press this and this should bring the toolbar back.

Your cookie settings are too high. Some pages are rejected totally for this reason. Go to Tools, Internet Options, Security, and turn down the security setting to Medium / Medium High. Alot of sites / webpages require cookies to be transferred and you could argue this is a security risk but you wont see the pages unless you allow cookies.
Alternatively your firewall, anti-virus or antispyware programme(s) may be selecting which sites you can see. Refer to their settings to find out- some have a blacklist of websites which they will not access to protect you.
Finally, you may have some virus or trojan on your PC which is redirecting your PC from the intended webpages to bad sites when you click. In this case you're getting the warning message because the virus or trojan was originally released some time ago and the webpage it is trying to redirect you to is no longer maintained. Do a full scan for spyware, adware, viruses and trojans.
